Ajith Kumar’s Arrambam is getting ready to have a biggest opening of the year at Tamil Box Office. The movie is hitting the screens with good number of screens on October 31 as a Diwali treat for the Kollywood audience. The film is releasing in foreign countries today (October 30).
The Thala is game to recreate the history at Box Office with his latest movie Arrambam. His last movie Billa 2 did not live up to audience expectations even though his hardcore fans had liked it. Now, with the latest flick, Ajith Kumar wants to return to his good form. Arrambam started making news after AM Rathnam announced that he was joining hands with Ajith Kumar in 2012.
Initially, the news surprised a section of industry as the producer and the actor was not in great terms due to some differences in the past. The cast and crew fell into place after Vishnuvardhan came on board.
The stylish, action-packed entertainer has taken a fantastic opening, despite releasing on a week day. Positive word of mouth is likely to get more audience followed by more revenues.
The film is set in the backdrop of the 26/11 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. In the opening shot, Ashok (Ajith) plants bombs in strategic locations around the city.
Though the bombs go off as planned, no one is hurt, as he very helpfully informs the police, who manage to clear the crowds in time.
The scene then shifts to Chennai Airport. Arjun (Arya) is on his way to Mumbai for a job interview. Maya (Nayanthara) is travelling on the same flight. They are college mates and the surprise meeting helps them catch up on old times and old friends.
However, once they reach Mumbai, everything changes. Arjun belatedly realises that Maya has trapped him into playing a deadly game orchestrated by Ashok.
Arjun is the best hacker in the state and Ashok requires his expertise to infiltrate the computer systems of certain organisations. Arjun initially refuses to co-operate, but relents when they threaten to kill his girl friend and TV host, Anitha (Taapsee Pannu).
Angered by the death and destruction caused by Ashok, Arjun secretly informs Prakash (Kishore), an honest police officer, who is investigating the bomb blast.
Later, Ashok uncovers himself as a former member of an anti-terrorist squad and reveals about the scam. The rest of the story is about how he takes revenge on Home Minister (Mahesh Manjrekar) and his associate (Atul Kulkarni) involved in the scam.
